Plaistow, NH — March 8th — In honor of International Women's Day, the Friends of Plaistow Fire-Rescue-EMS honored the women who work for the department and in the emergency services industry. In Plaistow, women work as dispatchers, paramedics, firefighters, EMTs, and department heads. Women continue to make up an increasing percentage of the fire and emergency medical services (EMS) workforce in the United States, working on frontline crews, in communications centers, and in leadership roles.

Along with the rest of the department, those individuals participate in training, community engagement, and emergency responses at Plaistow. The role that seasoned members play in training up-and-coming firefighters and EMS workers was also mentioned by officials. The acknowledgement brought attention to the ongoing efforts that women make to public safety and emergency services in local communities around the region.
