Berkeley Hills Volunteers Respond to Surge of 67 Weekly Incidents

Pittsburgh, PA - The Berkeley Hills Volunteers remained actively engaged throughout the past week, responding to a wide range of emergencies across their service area. Since Wednesday, the team has handled a total of 67 incidents and counting, including box alarms, brush fires, storm-related calls, medical emergencies, and vehicle accidents. Their most recent response marked the 478th incident of the year.


Daily incident totals reflect the steady pace of activity:

Wednesday the 11th – 16 incidents

Thursday the 12th – 10 incidents

Friday the 13th – 16 incidents

Saturday the 14th – 13 incidents

Sunday the 15th – 9 incidents


In addition to emergency responses, volunteers took time between calls to conduct multiple impromptu training sessions within the firehouse, ensuring continued readiness and skill development.


Throughout the week, the station remained fully staffed by volunteers, maintaining continuous coverage. Crews logged 24 hours of operation with two simultaneous teams in service, consisting of a minimum of seven interior firefighters.
