BOSAR Operators Train With Coast Guard in Night SAR Exercise

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On March 25th, members of the Yarmouth Fire Department's BOSAR (Boat Operator Search and Rescue) team participated in a night training exercise with officials from the United States Coast Guard Station Chatham. Lt. Riker, FF/P Regan, and FF/P Seymour from YFD Marine 1 took part in the operation.

The exercise focused on a variety of marine response skills, including search and rescue, stern and side towing, man overboard recovery, communications, and night navigation. To imitate genuine operational situations, the training was performed at night and on rough seas.

The station head and executive officer from Coast Guard Station Chatham were on board Marine 1 during the exercise, giving them a rare opportunity to observe operations from a fresh perspective.
