Dover, NH — March 24th — The last stage of training on a new incident command paradigm for handling complicated emergency situations was finished by Somersworth Fire Department officers. Lieutenants and chief officers have been working toward certification in the revised command structure for a number of months. Lieutenants Spinney and Toof, together with Deputy Chief James Drakopoulos, participated in simulation-based training at the Dover Fire Department for three days. Command scenarios involving major retail buildings, apartment complexes, strip malls, and residential buildings were incorporated in the program.

Firefighters can practice communication, resource management, and decision-making during active incidents with the aid of simulation training. As part of regional collaboration in officer development, the training was carried out with assistance from Durham Professional Firefighters and Dover Professional Fire Officers Local 2909.
