Biddeford FD Supports School Program in March

Biddeford, ME — March 11th — During National Reading Month, members of the Biddeford Fire Department paid a visit to Ms. Palladion's second-grade class at the Biddeford Public Schools. Firefighters read stories to the students and gave brief talks about the value of education and community service. Every March, the United States observes National Reading Month, which promotes the development of good reading habits among students. In order to promote literacy initiatives and improve community ties, fire departments and other public safety organizations frequently take part in school visits.
Firefighters addressed questions about the fire department and told the children a number of anecdotes during the visit. These kinds of programs assist foster good relationships between local schools and public safety organizations while providing students with an opportunity to interact with firemen outside of emergency situations.
