March 18, 2026 — The Freetown Fire Department is reminding residents of the importance of clearly visible house numbers, emphasizing that proper address identification can significantly impact emergency response times. In accordance with Massachusetts law, homes are required to display visible address numbers, and officials stress that reflective signage can make a critical difference for first responders attempting to locate properties quickly, especially at night or in poor weather conditions. To support this effort, the Freetown Firefighters Association is offering reflective address markers for purchase at a cost of $15. The signs can be mounted on mailboxes, homes, or yard posts to enhance visibility from the street. Residents interested in obtaining a marker are encouraged to complete the order form and submit it to Station 3, located at 25 Bullock Road in East Freetown. Fire officials note that ensuring a clearly marked address is a simple yet vital step in helping emergency personnel provide timely assistance when every second counts.
