March 2, 2026 — The Pittsfield Fire Department I.A.F.F. Local 2647 has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 “Iron Mike” Polidoro Memorial Scholarship, offering financial assistance to Berkshire County high school seniors pursuing careers in fire service, law enforcement, or emergency medical services. The program will award two $2,000 scholarships to eligible students who are graduating seniors or GED recipients residing in Berkshire County and planning to continue their education at an accredited college or university. Applicants are required to submit an application form, academic transcripts, an essay, a letter of recommendation, and proof of acceptance by the April 10, 2026 deadline. The scholarship honors the legacy of Michael A. “Iron Mike” Polidoro, a longtime Pittsfield firefighter and deputy chief known for his dedication to public service, leadership, and commitment to training and mentoring others. Officials noted that the scholarship serves as a lasting tribute to his impact on the fire service and aims to inspire the next generation of public safety professionals.
