Firefighters Place Second at Fight for Air Climb Boston

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On March 29th, department members competed in the Fight for Air Climb Boston, where they finished second in the Firefighter Stairclimb division.

The event demands firemen to climb 41 stories, or 82 flights of stairs, while wearing gear, which tests their endurance and conditioning. Four firefighters from the department finished in the top 11 overall individual finishers.

Participation in the event came after months of training to prepare for the strenuous stair climb. The yearly challenge also functions as a fundraiser, with earnings benefiting lung disease research and activities run by the American Lung Association.
