March 17, 2026 — At approximately 7:10 p.m., the Falmouth Fire Rescue Department responded to a reported structure fire at 68 Deepwood Drive, where first-arriving units encountered heavy fire conditions in a single-family residence. Crews immediately initiated an aggressive fire attack, with additional resources requested under a working fire assignment, including mutual aid from Joint Base Cape Cod (JBCC) Fire Department. Firefighters conducted a transitional attack to knock down exterior fire before advancing inside to continue suppression efforts and perform a primary search for occupants. As fire extended into the attic, vertical ventilation operations were initiated; however, deteriorating roof conditions prompted command to order all personnel off the roof and evacuate the structure for safety. Operations transitioned to a defensive strategy until conditions improved, allowing crews to re-enter for overhaul. The fire was declared under control at approximately 8:15 p.m. No injuries were reported, and the sole occupant was safely displaced to a neighbor’s residence. Additional support was provided by Cotuit, Bourne, COMM, and Hyannis Fire Departments for station coverage, along with Falmouth Police and Emergency Communications. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
