FORMER HOBOKEN FIRE CHIEF RICHARD TREMITIEDI PASSES

Richard Tremitiedi, 84, passed away on March 23rd. He served as the Hoboken Fire Department's Chief of Department from 1991 to 1995, when he retired.
The chief was well known around the state through his Fire Smart, Inc. study group. He served the City of Hoboken for 35-years.
The U.S. Army veteran joined the H.F.D. in 1960. Within five years he was appointed to the rank of captain, the youngest fireman to be promoted to that rank at the time. He was promoted to deputy chief on March 1, 1976 and to Chief of Department on March 1, 1990.
Tremitiedi graduated from Essex County College in 1984, while serving on the department. He was a trustee for FMBA Local 500, a member of the American Legion, Elks, Knights of Columbus, NJ Fireman's Retirement Association and the Community Emergency Response Team.
On March 28th, firefighters lined up in front of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church to pay their last respects to the dedicated firefighter.
