On March 17th, Lake Mohegan Professional Firefighters Local 2956 went to George Washington Elementary School to participate in Read Across America Day.

Firefighters spent time reading to students in all school levels, encouraging them to embrace reading and studying. Department members said the annual visit is something they look forward to each year, as students are always excited to see firefighters in the classroom.

Members also talked to students about school activities, such as the forthcoming Field Day, and continued to promote literacy and community engagement.
