FORESTPORT, NY — March 21st — In order to honor service and ongoing dedication to the community, the Forestport Fire Department hosted its annual department banquet. Volunteer fire departments have a long-standing custom of holding department banquets, which offer a chance to recognize member accomplishments, training initiatives, and emergency response work conducted all year long. As the department examined its continued role in safeguarding the Forestport community, firefighters, police, and supporters attended the event.

Several members were acknowledged during the ceremony that took place that evening, according to officials. Harold Schmelzle and Art Gleasman were not there for the event photo since they were unable to attend. These kinds of gatherings foster departmental camaraderie and acknowledge the commitment needed to sustain volunteer emergency services.
