March 25, 2026 — While emergency response remains the primary mission, members of Bethel Fire & EMS also dedicate time to maintaining their station and equipment, as demonstrated during a recent cleaning effort at Fire Headquarters. Firefighter Bob Korin operated the department’s floor-cleaning machine—nicknamed the “Firehouse Zamboni”—to remove winter salt and gravel buildup from the truck bay floor. The equipment, donated by the Newtown Youth Academy last year, plays an important role in preserving the condition of the station and ensuring a safe working environment. Department officials also recognized members Malcolm, Brett, and others who contribute to ongoing upkeep, emphasizing that pride in facilities and equipment is a key part of overall readiness heading into the spring season.
