February 12, 2026 — Bethel Police received a report of a structure fire on Juniper Road at approximately 3:19 p.m., prompting a rapid response from Bethel Volunteer firefighters who arrived to find heavy fire conditions on the second floor extending to the rear of the home and into the attic space. All six occupants—four adults and two children—safely evacuated prior to arrival, and firefighters successfully rescued the family cat. A second alarm was immediately transmitted as crews initiated an aggressive interior and exterior attack, deploying four hose lines while conducting searches for any remaining occupants. Stony Hill Fire Department’s Truck 4 positioned an aerial ladder for roof ventilation, with additional ground ladders placed at the rear for coordinated vent operations. Water supply was established using two nearby hydrants as approximately 40 firefighters and EMTs from Bethel and Stony Hill worked the scene, supported by mutual aid from Redding, Dodgingtown, Botsford, Hawleyville, Brookfield, and the City of Danbury, along with standby crews covering local stations. The fire was brought under control within about one hour, with initial knockdown achieved in approximately 20 minutes, and crews remained on scene for roughly two and a half hours conducting overhaul and checking for hotspots. No injuries were reported, but the home was deemed uninhabitable, and the displaced occupants were assisted by the American Red Cross.
