March 24, 2026 — Members of the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company participated in a specialized training session alongside representatives from Duquesne Light Company, focusing on safe and effective operations around energized power lines. The hands-on drill provided firefighters with critical insight into electrical hazards, proper scene assessment, and best practices when encountering downed wires or damaged utility infrastructure. By working directly with utility professionals, crews enhanced their ability to operate safely during emergencies involving electrical systems. Fire officials also reminded the public to never approach or touch downed power lines and to keep a safe distance from damaged poles, as these situations can pose serious and often unseen dangers.
