March 24, 2026 — Dawson County Fire and Emergency Services shared a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service in Peachtree City warning of elevated fire danger conditions across parts of North Georgia. Officials advised that relative humidity levels are expected to drop to 25 percent or less for four or more hours during the afternoon and evening, combined with easterly winds of 7 to 10 mph and gusts reaching up to 15 to 20 mph. These conditions, along with dry fuels, significantly increase the risk of fire spread. Residents are urged to check with local burn permitting authorities before conducting any outdoor burning and to exercise extreme caution if burning is permitted. Authorities emphasized the importance of vigilance during these conditions to help prevent accidental fires.
