Additional Prescribed Burn Scheduled in Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area

March 23, 2026 — Dawson County Fire and Emergency Services issued a notice advising residents of another prescribed burn being conducted by the Department of Natural Resources in the Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area. The burn is taking place near Scenic Road and the Sweetwater Juno area as part of ongoing land management efforts to reduce fuel loads and help prevent larger, uncontrolled wildfires. Officials noted that smoke may be visible in and around the area and urged residents and motorists to remain cautious, particularly where visibility may be impacted. The operation is planned and monitored, and there is no immediate cause for concern.
