March 23, 2026 — Dawson County Fire and Emergency Services issued a public notice advising residents of a planned prescribed burn being conducted by forestry officials in the areas surrounding Burt Creek Road, Shoal Creek Road, and Highway 136 West. The operation, covering approximately 100 acres, began in the morning hours and is part of ongoing land management efforts to reduce hazardous fuels and lower the risk of uncontrolled wildfires. Officials noted that residents may see smoke throughout the area and are encouraged to remain aware but not alarmed, as the burn is controlled and closely monitored. Motorists traveling through the area are advised to use caution in areas where visibility may be reduced due to smoke.
