March 12, 2026 — The Appling County Emergency Management Agency reported that the National Weather Service has officially cancelled Tornado Watch 50 for multiple counties across southeastern Georgia. The cancellation includes Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Brantley, Clinch, Coffee, Echols, Jeff Davis, Pierce, Ware, and Wayne counties, signaling an improvement in previously hazardous weather conditions. Communities affected by the earlier watch included Alma, Baxley, Blackshear, Douglas, Hazlehurst, Jesup, Nahunta, Waycross, and several surrounding areas. Officials advised that while the immediate tornado threat has diminished, residents should continue to remain aware of changing weather conditions and exercise caution as storms move out of the region. Emergency management personnel will continue monitoring conditions to ensure public safety.
