Severe Thunderstorm Warning Expanded Across Southeastern Georgia
March 12, 2026 — The Appling County Emergency Management Agency announced that the National Weather Service in Jacksonville issued an additional Severe Thunderstorm Warning for portions of southeastern Georgia, including Pierce, Brantley, Wayne, and southeastern Appling counties, along with parts of Ware County, in effect until 9:45 AM EDT. At approximately 9:02 AM, a line of severe thunderstorms was detected extending from west of Donald to near Boggy Bay, moving east at approximately 45 mph. The storms were capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph, posing a risk of damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Communities impacted included Jesup, Blackshear, Nahunta, Patterson, Gardi, Screven, Odum, Offerman, Hickox, and Boggy Bay. Officials warned that these storms are potentially dangerous and urged residents to seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure, away from windows. A Tornado Watch remained in effect for the region until 1:00 PM EDT as conditions continued to support the development of severe weather.
