Castorland Hosts RIT Training for Area Firefighters

CASTORLAND, NY — March 25th — Firefighters gathered at the Castorland Fire Department for their second night of Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) training.


The specialist instruction focuses on how to find and rescue a downed or trapped firefighter within a burning building. Crews trained synchronized search, removal, and firefighter survival methods for use in emergency circumstances on the fireground.


Firefighters from the New Bremen, West Carthage, and Rutland Fire Departments, as well as Castorland members, took part in the training.
