CPR Refresher Training Strengthens Community Response Capabilities

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Genoa, NY - Many members of the department recently completed refresher training in CPR, reinforcing their readiness to respond effectively in emergency situations. The department has long been an early adopter of Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) programs, enabling non-EMT and Certified First Responder (CFR) members to maintain CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) proficiency under a physician-regulated framework.

Over the years, the department has outfitted its light rescue unit, both engines, and one chief vehicle with AEDs, enhancing the ability to provide immediate intervention when every second counts. The continued commitment to equipping personnel and apparatus with life-saving tools reflects a strong emphasis on early response and patient care.

Special recognition is extended to American Heart Association instructor and Deputy Fire Coordinator Dave Newert for delivering the training and supporting the department’s ongoing preparedness efforts.
