March 23, 2026 — The Gilmanton Firefighters Association introduced its newest member, Matt Greene, as part of its ongoing Member Monday series, highlighting his experience, personality, and commitment to service in the Gilmanton community. Greene joined the department in 2025 as a lateral transfer from Exeter Fire and brings with him a diverse background in emergency response along with a unique creative side, earning recognition by some as “The Fiddling Firefighter.” Originally from Boston and later residing in Exeter before relocating to Gilmanton, Greene emphasized his appreciation for serving the community where he lives, noting the strong camaraderie within the department and the wide variety of calls as highlights of the job. Outside of the fire service, Greene is a musician who plays Celtic fiddle, enjoys writing, and has even taken up crochet, reflecting a well-rounded personality that complements his professional role. Department officials noted that Greene’s addition strengthens the team while continuing a tradition of dedicated service, professionalism, and community connection.
