Dogs Through the Ice: Safety Warning After Two Incidents at Cat Rock Park
Weston, MA - Emergency responders were dispatched twice to Cat Rock Park (80 Acres) following reports of dogs falling through ice on the pond. In both instances, the dogs had already been removed from the water before responders arrived. In one case, an individual entered the icy water to rescue the animal.
Authorities strongly warn the public not to enter the water in such situations. Attempting to rescue a dog from icy conditions can be extremely dangerous and may result in the person becoming a victim as well.
Residents are urged to call 911 immediately if a dog or any animal falls through the ice. Trained responders will handle the situation and carry out a safe rescue.
Community members are also encouraged to follow guidance provided by Animal Control officers regarding pet safety around frozen bodies of water.
