Crews Clear Wires and Tree Damage After Passing Storm

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

MANHASSET, NY — March 16th — A squall line passed over the neighborhood, prompting the Manhasset-Lakeville Volunteer Fire Department to respond to multiple weather-related calls. Firefighters responded to many complaints of storm damage and downed wires across the district. Crews discovered a tree that had fallen into a house during one response in Manhasset.

Members checked the structure for safety issues, secured the area, and worked with utility crews to fix the downed lines. These kinds of accidents are frequently handled by Nassau County fire departments during swift storm systems, which can bring powerful winds strong enough to bring down trees and electrical lines. Before conditions improved and calls started to clear, units operated at many sites.
