Department Honors Captain Strong on Anniversary of Line-of-Duty Death

FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY — February 28th — The anniversary of Honorary Chief Daniel C. Strong's line-of-duty death was commemorated at Franklin Square Munson Fd, 841 Liberty Pl, Franklin Square, NY. Strong was assigned to Floodlight & Rescue Co. when he joined the agency in October 1963. First. He spent five years as captain and six years as a lieutenant during his more than 25 years of service.


Additionally, he spent many years assisting in the training of incoming probationary firefighters. Strong worked for the New York City Police Department for more than 25 years before leaving the fire department. He responded to multiple alarms, including garbage fires, on February 28, 1989. Captain Strong had a deadly heart attack while responding to a shed fire on Fenworth Boulevard. The department still remembers his service.
