Moderate Fire Danger Issued for Montville and New London County

March 13, 2026 — The Town of Montville Volunteer Fire Service has announced that the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has classified the fire danger level for New London County, including the Town of Montville, as Moderate for Friday. Officials report that while conditions are not at their most severe, there remains an elevated risk for fire spread, particularly in dry or windy environments. Burn permits remain valid at this time; however, residents are urged to exercise caution when conducting any outdoor burning activities and to follow all safety guidelines. The department noted that it will continue to provide updates whenever fire danger levels reach moderate or higher, emphasizing the importance of public awareness and responsible fire practices.
