March 15, 2026 — Coeymans Fire Company #1 reported a busy series of incidents over the past several days, highlighting the diverse and demanding nature of volunteer fire service operations. Crews initially responded to an automatic crash alert triggered by an iPhone, which was ultimately determined to be a false alarm. Additional responses included two separate incidents on the river in coordination with the City of Rensselaer Fire Department and the Albany County Sheriff's Office. On Saturday, the Ravena Fire Department provided station coverage while Coeymans personnel participated in the Albany St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Activity continued into Sunday morning, when firefighters worked alongside multiple agencies—including Ravena Fire, Albany County Sheriff’s Office EMS Division, Ravena Rescue Squad, Town of Coeymans Police Department, and Amrize Cement employees—to successfully rescue an individual trapped in an elevator. Officials noted the importance of strong mutual aid partnerships and emphasized the ongoing need for volunteers, encouraging community members to visit the station to learn more about joining the department.
