March 15, 2026 — Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company continues to respond to numerous incidents in the aftermath of recent heavy winds, with officials highlighting the serious dangers posed by downed power lines. Firefighters reported that energized lines can generate enough heat to ignite surrounding brush, creating additional fire hazards while also posing a significant risk of severe injury or death to anyone who comes into contact with them. Crews emphasized that residents should never attempt to handle or move downed wires and instead immediately contact emergency services. The department remains actively engaged in mitigating hazards across the community while urging the public to remain vigilant, avoid affected areas, and prioritize safety as cleanup and restoration efforts continue.
