BLAUVELT, NY — March 9th — The Blauvelt Volunteer Fire Company Inc. hosted the Redline Gear Cleaning truck, which cleaned and inspected firefighters' turnout gear.

During a call, firefighters' gear is exposed to smoke and other pollutants. Some Blauvelt gear has already been used more than 40 times by 2026. Professional cleaning removes carcinogens and keeps the equipment safe and functional.

Officials stated that the procedure helps to extend the life of the equipment while decreasing firefighters' exposure to hazardous materials.
