February 22, 2026 — The Brookline Fire Department recognized a proud piece of its history while celebrating Team USA’s success in men’s hockey.

The department highlighted former Brookline firefighter Jack Kirrane, who was a member of the legendary 1960 U.S. Olympic hockey team that captured the gold medal. That historic victory remains one of the most celebrated moments in American hockey history.


Kirrane’s connection to the fire service adds an extra layer of pride for the department, showcasing the diverse accomplishments of its members both on and off duty. As Team USA continues to inspire fans today, the department reflected on its own link to Olympic greatness.


Brookline firefighters congratulated the current U.S. men’s hockey team while honoring the legacy of one of their own who helped bring home Olympic gold.
