Schuyler Hose Mourns the Passing of Past Chief James J. Hack

Schuyler Hose Co. members announced the death of Past Chief and Life Member James J. Hack, a long-time volunteer who spent decades serving the department.


Hack joined Schuyler Hose on December 2, 1965, and was an active member for 34 years. He was appointed lieutenant in 1978 and eventually became fire chief in 1985, serving eight terms as the department's top head.


Throughout his tenure, Hack was noted for his emphasis on the maintenance and preparedness of department equipment and gear, which helped guarantee firefighters were ready to respond to community crises.


Members offered their sympathies to the Hack family and acknowledged his many years of service and leadership in the department.
