Watervliet Volunteers Review SCBA and Escape Systems During Drill

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On February 20th, members of the Schuyler Hose Co. conducted their yearly Respiratory Protection refresher training alongside mutual aid firemen from the David Nevins Fire Co.

During the simulation, firefighters went over the department's Respiratory Protection Program, which covered the appropriate use of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and emergency escape protocols. The workshop also gave new members hands-on experience with the equipment used in inside firefighting operations.

Regular refresher training helps firefighters stay familiar with their protective gear and emergency procedures before responding to work-related events. Schuyler Hose Co., a 100% volunteer organization serving the Watervliet community, continues to encourage residents interested in public service to stop by the station on Thursday evenings or contact the department to learn about joining the team.
