HOGANSBURG, N.Y. — February 22nd —The Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department ended their first Youth Drone Camp, which taught local youngsters the fundamentals of drone operation and aviation safety. During the last session, participants learned about airspace laws, safe flight zones, and staying mindful of other aircraft.

Students finished their training by passing the Federal Aviation Administration's TRUST exam, receiving certification for recreational drone flight. After the instructional section, students practiced flying a drone through an obstacle course to put their skills to the test. At the end of the session, participants got course completion certificates from the department and were given DJI Neo 2 drones to take home. The Tri-District Recreation Committee funded the program, and various instructors helped with the training sessions.
