CASTORLAND, NY — March 1st — When a chimney fire was reported at 9126 Cutoff Road in the Town of New Bremen, the Castorland Fire Co. responded with mutual help from the Beaver Falls Fire Department. Engine/Tanker 1, Rescue, and Truck 1 were sent out. Crews started setting up when Truck 1 with the Beaver Falls Engine arrived. According to firefighters, the fire most likely burned itself out prior to their arrival.
When the truck team lifted the aerial ladder to examine the chimney, they discovered creosote accumulation close to the top. After cleaning a few feet of the flue using chimney brushes, firefighters examined the remaining portion. Before leaving the area, crews informed command that the chimney seemed to be clear.
