CASTORLAND, NY — February 22nd — When a business fire alarm went off at 5196 New York State Route 410 in the Village of Castorland, the Castorland Fire Co. responded with mutual aid from the Beaver Falls Fire Department. The first person to arrive was a chief officer, who stated that nothing was visible from the outside. When Engine 2 arrived, firefighters went inside to look into the alarm panel, which showed that Apartment 1 had been activated.

The renter reported to firemen that the detector was triggered when the bathroom door was opened, allowing steam from a shower to reach the corridor. There was no fire, according to the crews. Command canceled more responding units, and firefighters reset the alarm system. Soon after, Engine 2 cleared the area.
