Multi-Department Drill Meets OSHA and PESH Requirements

CASTORLAND, NY — February 21st — To assist firefighters in meeting the safety requirements set forth by the New York Public Employee Safety and Health Bureau and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Castorland Fire Co. organized a training day. Thirty-five firefighters from Lewis County agencies, including those from Beaver Falls, Croghan, Rutland, and Castorland, were present. The eight-hour program concentrated on operational refresher training utilized in the fire service and mandatory safety subjects.


Lowville Fire Department Chief Joe Austin, West Carthage Fire Department Chief Pete Crump, Beaver Falls Fire Department Captain David Kuhl, and Castorland firefighter Paul Becker gave the instruction. On the day of training, a hot lunch was provided.
