CADYVILLE, NY — March 12th — Along with firemen from throughout Clinton County, members of the Cadyville Fire Department journeyed to the New York State Capitol to participate in Legislative Advocacy Day. In order to highlight challenges impacting volunteer fire stations and the need for ongoing support, the delegation visited with state legislators. Among the larger groups present were firefighters from South Plattsburgh Fire Department, Champlain Fire District, Peru Fire Department, Mooers Volunteer Fire Department, and District No. 3.

About 93% of New York State fire departments rely on volunteer firefighters, according to state fire service associations. Members can have direct conversations with legislators on Advocacy Day regarding the resources, training, and recruitment needed to support volunteer fire protection in communities throughout the state.
