GENEVA, NY — February 27th — In order to promote the health and preparedness of firefighters serving Geneva and many neighboring departments, the City of Geneva Fire Department continues to collaborate with Finger Lakes Health Occupational Health Services. The program offers services that support firefighters in maintaining their medical readiness for duty. DOT physicals, yearly and pre-employment physicals, respirator clearance tests, health screenings, immunizations, and workplace drug testing are some of these services.

Because firefighting frequently entails intense physical exertion and exposure to smoke and other risks, occupational health monitoring is a crucial component of firefighter safety. Regular medical examinations help departments maintain firefighter readiness and identify health issues early, according to guidelines from the National Fire Protection Association. These kinds of partnerships enhance community protection as well as responder safety.
