GENEVA, NY — February 18th — The occupants of the North Street Apartments were visited by firefighters from the City of Geneva Fire Department to discuss basic fire safety and the value of functional smoke detectors. Firefighters talked about safe evacuation procedures, early fire detection, and how smoke alarms provide early warning during a residential fire during their visit. The National Fire Protection Association states that operational smoke alarms lower the chance of dying in a house fire by roughly 50%.
