CANANDAIGUA, NY — February 16th — The yearly Public Employee Safety and Health (P.E.S.H.) training, which is mandatory for all public employees in New York State, was just finished by HVFD members. For public employees, including volunteer firefighters, P.E.S.H., which is run by the New York State Department of Labor, helps guarantee safe working conditions and appropriate safety training. Workplace safety regulations, hazard identification, and the use of protective gear are all included in the training.

Members also talk about ways to lower risk when working on emergency situations and at the firehouse. By completing the yearly training, departments can reinforce safe work practices and stay in line with state safety standards. By encouraging awareness, preparation, and a constant focus on safeguarding firefighters while they serve their communities, programs like P.E.S.H. strengthen the fire service.
