This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Geneva, NY — March 3rd — During a Monday night drill, members of North Side Fire Company and firefighters from the White Springs Fire Association participated in a practical auto extrication training. Vehicle stabilization, patient access, and the use of hydraulic rescue equipment frequently seen at auto accident scenes were the main topics of the training. Crews collaborated to practice departmental communication and coordinated operations.

Before reacting to actual emergencies together, firefighters can familiarize themselves with one other's tools and protocols through joint drills with mutual-aid partners. One of the most frequent occurrences that fire services in the area deal with is still motor vehicle crashes. In order to ensure that firefighters are ready to safely and effectively aid victims during car rescue incidents, the program offered practical training and strengthened collaboration between the two departments.
