March 10, 2026 — The Rindge Fire Department shared important fire safety guidance with residents as part of a public education initiative featuring information from the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal's Office quarterly risk reduction newsletter. This month’s safety message focuses on the importance of developing a home fire escape plan, emphasizing that residents may have less than two minutes to safely exit a home once a smoke alarm sounds. Fire officials encourage families to draw a map of their home, identify all doors and windows, practice evacuation drills regularly, and establish a designated meeting place outside. The department also highlighted recommendations from the National Fire Protection Association regarding the installation of smoke alarms in sleeping areas and on every level of a home. In addition, residents were encouraged to consider enrolling in the New Hampshire 911 C.A.R.E.S. program, a voluntary registry that allows individuals to provide information about household members who may need assistance evacuating during an emergency. By having this information available to dispatchers and first responders at the start of an incident, emergency crews can better prepare for evacuation needs and respond more effectively when they arrive on scene.
