Copake, NY — 11th March — As crews get the department's new Rescue Pumper 1442 ready for duty, members of Copake Fire Company #1, located at 390 County Route 7A in Copake, have been receiving training. To familiarize themselves with the capabilities of the unit, four training groups have been practicing drafting, driving, and pump operations. In order to guarantee seamless operation during emergency calls, firefighters carefully examined equipment positioning and operating features.
Rescue pumpers are an essential component of many volunteer department fleets throughout New York State because they are made to support both firefighting and rescue missions. Before responding to emergencies, personnel can better understand how new equipment operates and is set up through practical training. The training program will continue as members practice various response scenarios prior to the apparatus going into duty, according to officials.
