Copake, NY — 6th March — During testing at the Albany County Airport Fire Station, three line officers from Copake Fire Company #1 passed the National Fire Officer I certification exam. A component of the New York State fire training system, the National Fire Officer I curriculum emphasizes incident management, leadership, and supervision for officers at the company level. The airport's Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting facility, which assists with emergency response for aviation mishaps, is where the testing was conducted.

Firefighters from IAFF Local I-65 gave the visiting officers a tour of the ARFF crash rescue equipment and talked about the airport's aircraft firefighting procedures after the exam. In order to improve emergency response coordination and build command skills, fire departments throughout New York continue to support officer development.
