Emergency Services Community Mourns Loss of Gowanda Rescue Leader

Conewango Valley, NY — 18th February — Following the death of Rick, a well-liked member and commander of the Gowanda rescue squad, members of the emergency services community around Cattaraugus County expressed their condolences. Leon Fire Company #1, situated at 12194 Leon New Albion Road in Conewango Valley, confirmed the loss. First responders regarded Rick as a trustworthy leader who helped his department and the larger Gowanda region mutual aid network.


Over the course of his years of service, he helped with training initiatives, emergency responses, and coordination amongst fire, emergency medical services, and rescue organizations that collaborate throughout the area. According to coworkers, Rick's leadership promoted the goal of community protection and strengthened teamwork among responders.
