Piermont Fire Department Dive Team Marks 70 Years of Service and Dedication
Piermont, NY - On March 6, 2026, the Piermont Fire Department Dive Team celebrated 70 years of dedicated service to the community. The seven original men who founded the team have all passed on, but their commitment and “Never Give Up” attitude continue to live on in every member of the Dive Team today.
In the early days, the original dive team responded to calls aboard 13-500 with minimal equipment—rubber suits, a single steel tank, and US Divers double hose regulators. Despite having only the basics, they consistently rose to the challenge and got the job done.
Today, the Dive Team operates with some of the best equipment available, including full face masks, dry suits, side scan sonar, and two boats. These advancements have greatly enhanced the team’s ability to perform its critical missions.
The Piermont Fire Department extends its sincere gratitude to the community’s taxpayers and the Village Board for their continued support, which makes it possible to maintain and improve the team’s capabilities.
