Athens Department Recognizes Loss Connected to Catskill Fire Company

ATHENS, NY — February 25th — Following a recent tragedy related to the D.M. Hamilton Steamer Company No. 2 of the Catskill Fire Company, the Athens Volunteer Fire Department sent their condolences to the Bennett family. Through training, community events, and mutual aid responses, fire units in Greene County retain strong ties. Departments frequently send out notes of support to other firefighters and their families at difficult times.


The lengthy history of service embodied by the Catskill business and its members was acknowledged by Athens department members. Strong collaboration and a common dedication to public safety are essential for volunteer fire stations across the region. The strong ties developed over many years of duty in the fire service are reflected in departmental support.
