Rensselaer, NY - Members of the Rensselaer Fire Department recently participated in a training session focused on confined space rescue operations, honing the skills required for some of the most complex and hazardous emergencies.
During the training, crews reviewed hazard recognition, atmospheric monitoring, patient packaging, rope systems, and coordinated rescue procedures in simulated confined space environments. These exercises are designed to ensure members are prepared to safely rescue workers or civilians from areas such as tanks, vaults, pits, and industrial spaces.
Such training enhances the Technical Rescue Team’s ability to operate safely, efficiently, and professionally when every second counts. Over the past two years, ten members of the department earned their Confined Space Technician certification through the New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services’ Confined Space Program.
The department expressed gratitude to all participating members and instructors who contributed to the success of the training.
