ELMIRA HEIGHTS, NY — February 28th — The Elmira Heights Fire Department's junior program, which serves members aged 14 to 17, is helping to train the future generation of firefighters.
During a recent training session, junior members learned how to recognize different types and classes of fire extinguishers, as well as when they might be utilized as the first line of defense in small fires. The training also included hands-on instruction on how to refill a water can extinguisher, giving participants firsthand experience with equipment often utilized during first fire suppression.
